MISSIONS

Axens is looking for a Technical Services Engineer with, at minimum, a first experience in the field of VGO and Residue processing.

The position is based in Beijing and assigned to the middle distillates & Conversion Business Line Technical Services Group, your mission will be first to participate in the pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities of Bottom of the Barrel Technologies.

This position involves on-site field assignments at industrial sites world-wide, but mainly in China, with durations that can vary from several weeks to several months.
Then, after a period of 2 to 3 years on the road, you will have the opportunity to move to a Technical Services position, based in Beijing, to ensure technical support and performances follow-up of recently commissioned units. Depending on your experience when starting, you may quickly be promoted to start-up leader position status.

 

MAIN ACTIVITIES

Participation in operations for starting up VGO and Residue processing  units under the supervision of a start-up leader, mainly involved in the following activities:

 

  • Verifying the ‘’as-built’’ unit ’s compliance with Axens’ specifications;
  • Verifying compliance of safety components with Axens’ specifications;
  • Drawing up or adapting detailed start-up operating procedures for the customer;
  • Ensuring that the customer applies the procedures and providing the technical support needed for their good understanding;
  • Guiding and advising the customer on operating and adjusting the units.

 

 

PROFILE & SKILLS REQUIRED

Education :
  • Candidate must possess a degree in chemical, mechanical or general engineering.
Experience :
  • Minimum four years’ experience of which two years relevant in hydroprocessing or conversion, in a refinery or an engineering company.
Skills :
  • You have a good knowledge and a global vision of refining processes.
  • You speak English fluently. Strong written skills are also required. It would be appreciated if you have skills in other language(s).
  • Curious, open-minded, you are motivated to work in an international environment.
  • You want to work in team and directly in contact with the clients and, for this, you have good listening skills, you are rigorous and pragmatic.
  • You have good skills in communication, oral and written. You like to prepare arguments and present them,
  • Your sense of realities, your autonomy and your ability to take quick and adapted decisions help you to find solutions to unexpected issues on the field and to implement them. 
  • Your availability and flexibility help you to adapt to schedules that by definition are constantly changing. For the next 2 years, you are ready to be assigned on our Clients jobsites in China or abroad (about 150 days/year).
  • As part of your integration into Axens Bottom of the Barrel team, you will undergo training sessions at Axens Head Offices, and possibly be incorporated into process design teams for short assignments.
